PRESS RELEASE – RACHEL REDMAN ‘NOW’ GLOBAL DIGITAL RELEASE.
On 28th February 2015, local musician Rachel Redman will be releasing her album called ‘Now’. This will be a digital release on I-tunes, Spotify, Amazon and many other online shops through Ditto Music, as well as being available on CD. She will be holding an album launch party at The Swan Inn in Arborfield on 28th February starting at 7pm. Tickets are £3 in advance and £5 on the door. The two support acts at the event are acoustic singer/songwriters Abi Powell and Simon Williams. Abi Powell has recently released her EP ‘Not this time’ and Simon Williams has released his album ‘40 miles west’ which is also available online.
Rachel Redman is a singer songwriter from Berkshire, UK. Growing up listening to the likes of Sheryl Crow, Alanis Morrisette and Alisha’s Attic, these influences make themselves heard through the pop sensibilities of Redmans’ song writing. Rachel is a trained secondary music teacher and a live performer in a band called Vanilla Candy, so music plays a large part of her professional and personal life. She wrote her first song at 6 years old and hasn’t stopped!
On the album ‘Now’ Rachel has taken an active part in the production at her home studio as well as the composition. Rachel states “These songs tell a story of my life, every track holds a piece of my heart, and I have really enjoyed recording and producing my songs, and bringing my ideas to life” Rachel continues “I was very lucky to have support from my music friends who advised me to put my music on a number of online platforms, due to the music industry being driven by online sales. I will still create CDs, but I anticipate most people will listen to my music online” Her songs are very personal to her and she has played multi instruments on the album, including, guitar, vocals, penny whistle, drums, bass and oboe. She has also had some help from some talented local musicians that have brought her ideas to life. Rachel did have many opportunities to have her album produced by management companies but decided she wanted to create her own music, in her own way.
Rachel Redman is a trained teacher as well as a musician. After gaining a Degree in Music up in Newcastle, Rachel studied at the University of Reading and gained her PGCE in Music and teaches in secondary schools and for local music service.
‘My passion for music has been my inspiration and my motivation for training as a teacher. Music permeates society and plays a part, no matter how big or small, in each person’s life; thus it is important that every learner is provided with an opportunity to learn musically. In so doing they acquire skills such as self confidence, coordination, organisation, personal expression, and team work. As the music industry is one of the biggest media industries in the world – it is easy to relate different styles of music to young people in a contemporary form. This creates a positive atmosphere in the classroom where the students automatically relate to the lesson thereby increasing their involvement, focus and time on task. Musical learning is a special form of academic learning: many would say it is a particular form of intelligence, so for some learners music offers a unique chance to experience success’ – Rachel Redman
